Pretty interesting track. I think it might help the song if you bring out the high notes a bit more. I feel like the bass is overpowering the melody a bit.

I like the early twist in this. I thought for a second it was going to be something in a major scale but that would be quite different from everything else you've done. :P

Glad to see you've been making working on more stuff. I think I saw in the description in another song these were originally for a game you were working on. Hope you decide to work on that again someday. These tracks would really bring a game to life.

Didn't notice this one before. Great clean sound on this one. Reminds me of Black Omen from Chrono Trigger. As a side note, my comments that your music makes me think of parts from existing games isn't a shot at originality. It's actually really cool that you can evoke memories from titles that I thoroughly enjoyed playing but not cause me to wince and think "this is a complete rip off of song X".

dagys responds:

Wow, that's a pretty good compliment! Actually, it's games like Chrono Trigger and other classics that have influenced me the most! Growing up in a musical family and absorbing tunes eventually made me start branching out into my own creative style. It is purely emotionally driven and each one of these songs invoke memories, certain colors, weird stuff in my mind with certain chords, etc. It is more or less a drug for me XD! But more than that it is an addiction and I feed it with my own tailor made music - literally, just for me. And to see other people enjoy it is like a dream come true!

So FunkcasterCatking came into the studio right? And he strummed out this tune yeah? And I said, 'that's a number one record'.

Seriously though, good song. I particularly liked the first 30 seconds.

FunkmasterCatking responds:

Hahaha, thank you my good man.

I'm not really sure why, but this made me think of the first part of FF7 when you're trying to blow up the reactor. I don't think it has anything to do with the sound/vibe, as I don't even recall what the music was like for that intro section. Like your other songs, it does sound like it belongs right in a video game. Thanks for the scout by the way.

dagys responds:

Likewise! Dig the chiptunes man!

Everything blends together well in this one and has a great spacey vibe to it. I realize it's published and everything, but if the song isn't meant to loop, maybe see how it sounds if you do a slow fade out instead of a sudden cut at the end.

dagys responds:

Yeah, that's a whoops by me! I have a version that fades but didn't realize that I didn't upload that version until now. Thanks for the heads up!

I think the drums could use some more mixing/mastering, but the melody alone gets 4 stars. I'm stuck writing my songs in some sort of minor scale which gets a little old, but I really liked the unique feel this song had. Gives the same kind of other-worldly feel as the final Lavos battle song from Chrono Trigger.

dagys responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, the drums are always difficult for me to pull off. I've got a bit of a minor fetish myself - most of my music follow some sort of non-major arrangement. It just sounds more interesting to my ears!
